Wendy Paul

Technical Officer

Wendy Paul gained her MSc at University of Waikato through research into use of alum as a flocculant and nitrogen and carbon cycling by phytoplankton and bacteria in Lake Okaro. She has continued her work on lakes. She works on contracts involving lake water quality monitoring, phytoplankton analysis, and lake models. Wendy is experienced in the quantification and taxonomy of phytoplankton and works on contracts to analyse phytoplankton samples from the Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions. She also analyses water samples for Didymosphenia geminata (didymo) commercially. She was involved in producing New Zealand Guidelines for Cyanobacteria in Recreational Fresh Waters. Wendy is the webmaster for LERNZ website, produces factsheets and edits the LERNZ newsletter. Here her photographic and graphics skills are put to good use. Wendy worked voluntarily as the webmaster for the New Zealand Freshwater Sciences Society website for a number of years. Wendy’s past teaching experience is useful when helping students with their lab and field techniques, sample designs and various analyses.
