Thesis topic: Ecophysiology and evolution of adaptive oxygen transport in NZ mudfishes
The nature of Jeroen's thesis proposal was to investigate the ecophysiology of New Zealand mudfish and to study the evolution of adaptive oxygen transport in these fish. This involved comparative examinination of features of whole blood oxygen affinity in all of the five NZ mudfish species using a Hemox analyser as well as studying features of haemoglobin expression within these species using isoelectric focussing.
