PhD Student

Matt is currently working under Ian Hogg and Ian Duggan as a research assistant. His work involves developing a genetic technique for species identification of New Zealand zooplankton taxa. Through the compilation of a database of mitochondrial DNA sequences from previously identified zooplankton species, routine biomonitoring will become easier and invasive species will be more detectable. In addition, molecular clock dating techniques can be used to approximate the time period of invasion.
