Duncan is studying under Brendan Hicks and Dave Campbell. His research will evaluate the physical habitat and fish populations in the Mangakotukutuku Stream before and after the installation of log weirs in demonstration reaches. Cross sections across the habitat installation sites will be collected measuring stream geometry, substrate, water depth and water velocity. The program RHYHABSIM (River HYdraulic HABitat SIMulation) will be used to evaluate habitat suitability for native and introduced fish.
