Lake Rotoma
General information
Lake Rotoma is one of the highest quality Rotorua Lakes (Gibbons-Davies, 2003). The Rotoma eruption created a caldera comprising of two basins, one on the northern side and one on the southern side.
The lake is drained via subsurface outflows.
Issues concerning the water quality of the lake include the effects of cattle entering the lake for drinking water as well as the existing and future septic tank installations (EBOP, 2000).
